Course Objectives

This course will offer to the participants the opportunity to practice on SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) traces analysis and troubleshooting cases in a realistic simulated environment.

Description of the SIP protocol, the possible interfacing networks for SIP, the basic functions and capabilities of SIP, major protocols related to SIP, IMS and VoIP, routing and addressing schemes of SIP signaling

– Wireshark as Diagnostic tool

– SIP Registration

– Registration Successful

– Registration error

– SIP to SIP call

– Call between two registered UAs

– SIP to External network (optional, if it can be applied, connectivity to Public Internet required with relevant ports not blocked by firewalls)

– Call to external network (SIP)

– Instant Messages

– Instant message exchange between two UAs

– Call to UA that redirects call to another UA

– SIP Forking

– Call to two registered UAs with the same account

General knowledge and working experience in IMS, VoIP, Mobile Core Networks.
